A little update and 17 songs demo

It's been a while since we posted the last time!
Some of you may know, but Tak has been dealing with his personal family issues.
He is okay, don't worry.
As he gigging with his side-project "Atsuki Ryo with Jesus Mode" (check the website here, http://www.kitchenkniferecords.com/jesusmode/), he is now making 17 songs demo for the future of IMARI TONES. We are enjoying some time off until those demo tracks are done.
Our future mission is obvious.
Of course we will play local gigs in Tokyo and Yokohama region just like we always did.
However, after that, we have to carry out "The Extreme Tour Japan" next year. That is not an easy mission but we will do it.
After that, eventually, we have to work on our USA VISA issue, so that we can play more shows in USA and have some little business success.
We need that kind of little success, in order to make our WORLD TOUR happen. Do you know what I mean?
For now, we will put more focus on selling our past albums & CDs on our catalogue through BandCamp and iTunes, because we have plenty of music we have recorded in our band history, both in Japanese and English language. We will post about it later.
Thank you very much!
God bless you all and have a happy Christmas and holiday season!

Back from The Extreme Tour and our next mission!

Praise God!
We are back in Japan, back from The Extreme Tour in USA!

As you may already know, we joined "the extreme tour" in August-September.
And we played in, Whidbey Island (Oak Harbor) WA, Florence OR, Gold Beach OR, Stevenson WA (X-Fest), Yakima WA, Coeur d'Alene ID, Moscow ID, and Great Falls MT. (We also visited Seattle WA and Spokane WA apart from the extreme tour). We played total 12 shows in these 8 towns.

It was just 3weeks with the extreme tour (and 4 weeks of staying in USA), but let me tell you this, it was a great step for us as a Japanese Christian band.

"The Extreme Tour" is a genuine, real, hardcore Christian tour. They are real people.
They visit small towns instead of big cities. They play in front of homeless people instead of celebrity or industry big shots. They are willing to go to unchurched places, instead of playing ordinary church concerts. Their first priority is obedience to God, not business success.

They are some of the craziest, most extreme people in today’s Christian music world. That’s what we thought. And we loved that.
We played, parks, skateparks, drive-in theater, juvenile detention center, high schools (we changed lyrics because we can’t sing “God” or “Jesus” in school), block party, as well as church and Christian music festival.

Because of the nature of the tour and booking situation, we could only know the exact time and place we play just before the shows. This made it almost impossible to notify our friends and fans about the show information. We are sorry about that, because some of our friends told us they wanted to see us while we were in USA. (Also, we played mostly outside parks, not traditional music venues. That made it difficult for us to notify our fans, too.)

We played some bigger shows, too. We played X-Fest in Stevenson WA. It was a Christian music festival. It took place in a beautiful camping site. We shared the bill with a legendary Christian garage/punk/hardrock band from 1990‘s called The Clergy, and a heavy rock band from Las Vegas called PAR-A-DIGM, as well as many other great Christian bands. It was a blast! (and we put a great show!)

We played Nuart Block Party in Moscow ID, we opened for After Edmund, Grammy nominated Dove Award winning Christian rock band. We were stoked. (And we put a great show, of course!)

Now we are the first Japanese band to join The Extreme Tour. This is a great step for us, as a Christian band from Japan. It’s all because of your help and prayer. Thank you very much.

We say thank you to the people in our home church in Yokohama (Victory International Church). Without your help we could never made this tour.

We say thank you very much to all the people who helped us on IndieGoGo. Because of your help, we could afford the gas money and a rent-a-car (to drive back to Seattle WA).

And we say thank you very much to all of your prayer for us.
Without your prayer, nothing can be done. Because it’s God who can make everything happen.

We also want to say thank you to all of the bands and people we toured with.
The Lacks, DaMac, Colton&Zara, The Burn-Ins, Tim (a great MC and a drummer), Jarrod (a great soundman), John (from Alaska), Preston (from the band “ER”), Steve&April (thanks for fixing my guitar), and....I hope I didn’t forget anybody.

We say thank you to all the people we met on the tour.
Including, Scott&Chrissie (coolest pastor on the planet), John (the blind metal guitarist), April (in Florence), Tim (in Gold Beach), Jim (at X-Fest, whose daughter now in Tokyo), Timothy (the big daddy, at X-Fest), Yumi and her kids (it’s a great surprise to see Japanese people there at X-Fest!), Michele&Brett (in Coeur d’Alene),  Derek (in Coeur d’Alene), Jacob (travelling through Coeur d’Alene), Callisto (at high school), Roman (from the band Sons of Day), Anoriaki (a Japanese-Chinese boy in Moscow), Jay (who lived in Japan for years), Brad (in Great Falls), Matt (a great BMX rider), Samuel (in Great Falls), and all the people I can’t spell their names (sorry I’m a Japanese...) and all the other people probably I forgot to mention.

It was surely a life changing experience for us, as a person, as a band. But the next mission God gave us during this tour was...to bring this tour to Japan.

Yes, we want to do “The Extreme Tour” in Japan next year!
We want to bring these guys, these Christian bands and this extreme music event to Japan!

We know it’s not easy, because in Japan everything is different from USA.
But we feel it’s our mission given by God.
We had a great experience with The Extreme Tour. We learned so much. Now what’s next? It’s our responsibility to bring this great missionary to our own country!

It’s gonna be in October 2013, at this point.
We have 1 year to prepare.
Now we are going to contact every person possible to make this thing happen.

So we need your help!
If you are living in Japan and you can help “The Extreme Tour” in Japan, please let us know!

We need, place to play music, place to skateboard or BMX, place to stay, cars and vans, PA system and music equipments, and some little budget. The region/location, we are not sure yet. Possibly in Tohoku, possibly around Tokyo/Yokohama, possibly somewhere else.

We appreciate your continuous prayer.
I believe this will be the best thing we have done to our own country Japan.
Because I’m sure this will IMPACT our society.
So we need many people’s help!

You can contact The Extreme Tour directly via their website.
Or you can simply contact me/us via our website or facebook/twitter.

Again thank you very much for everything.
We are very blessed and we are very thankful.

We uploaded many photos from the tour,
On our facebook page (mostly band photos),

On Tak’s facebook page (all the photos)

and our Flickr (all the photos)

We will upload some of the videos...hopefully soon.

If you helped us on IndieGoGo and still don’t get our CDs and stuff, please let us know. Though I believe we already sent out all the CDs.

And Sean and Kevin at Famicom Dojo, I will contact you soon about the new Famicom Dojo song!

It’s still 10+ days since we came back from the tour, but I already wrote 15 new songs. You will be surprised at our new musical direction! (in a good way, hopefully)

So we will work on our new songs and new musical direction in a studio.
I and my wife will work on our side project called “Atsuki Ryo with Jesus Mode”.
I also started skateboarding, which I know is funny starting at my age. It’s because I was inspired by skatepark experience on the tour. Skateboarding and Christianity are kind of same situation - In USA you have churches in every corner, in Japan it’s hard to find. In USA you have nice skateparks in every town, in Japan it’s hard to find. So I think learning abut skate culture in Japan will give us a hint about Japanese Christian situation.
And of course we will play some local gigs in Yokohama/Tokyo, just like we always did! First show is booked at The Rokudenashi, Odakyu-Sagamihara, Kanagawa, on October 20th Saturday, 9PM. See you there, our Japanese friends!

Thank you very much.
Thank you Jesus.
and God bless you all:)

FRONTGOD

Suddenly I felt like telling this story of ours.
I wrote this story before in my personal internet diary or MIXI, in Japanese language (That's the language I usually write).

We are a "trio" band. We have a drummer (Jake), a bassist (Hassy) and I play guitar while at the same time I sing lead.

But sometimes people ask us why. Because usually this type of music requires, at least 4 people in a band. It's not usual for this Hard Rock type of bands.

Those legendary rock bands, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Living Colour, Loudness (and the list goes on), they were all 4-piece bands. And they all had a great "frontman". With those "frontmen", they can put fabulous shows.

But for us Imari Tones, we don't really have a "frontman".
It's not something we wanted from the beginning. When Tak (me) started a band, I didn't want to sing. Because I'm a guitarist and I never considered myself as a singer. I wanted to play with another singer who can sing and perform as a "frontman". But I could not find anyone who was right for the job. So I had to sing myself while playing guitar at the same time.

Sometimes I asked God "Jimmy Page had Robert Plant, Eddie Van Halen had David Lee Roth. Why didn't you give me a singer?"

But after those years, now I think I know the answer.
We don't need a frontman. Because our frontman is Jesus Christ. Anyone doesn't really deserve spotlight except for Him. Jesus is the only one who deserves the glory because He is the Son of God. That's why God didn't give me a singer.

When a trio band plays nobody stands in the center on the stage. Guitarist in the left, bassist in the right, and drummer in the back. Nothing wrong with that. We put God in the center of the stage. That's the Rockn'Roll we play.

After I knew the fact, I never get worried about not having a frontman. I started saying "Right. We don't have a frontman. But we have a FRONTGOD."

Overcome video and 3 more day on IndieGoGo

Hello!
This is Tak from IMARi ToNES, Japanese Christian rock band.

This is a simple and short letter before we go to "The Extreme Tour" later this month.

1. Heroes EP & Overcome video
2. 3 days left for our fundraising
3. The Extreme Tour dates (slightly) changed

1.
We finished recording "Heroes EP"!!
We are going to release it sometime in early 2013, but the special "just recorded" edition is available on our IndieGoGo page....now only for 3 more days! (See below for our IndieGoGo.)

It's the first record we did on our MacBookPro. (We finally changed our recording system from very-old-version Cubase to LogicPro.)
It's the first record Tak used Amplitube guitar system.
And let me say, it rocks harder than ever!

We uploaded one song on YouTube and Soundcloud.
A song called "Overcome".
We are going to play this song during the tour and our upcoming gigs.
So we want you to take a listen!

"Overcome" on YouTube

2.
Our IndieGoGo fundraising, now only 3 more days left!!
Thank you very much for everyone.
It may look like a small amount, however, actually it's a big help for us!
So let me say, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Now 1 more help and we reach $100.
Somebody please!

IndieGoGo campaign, our clumsy video and limited edition EP

Hello, this is Tak from Imari Tones, Japanese Christian rock band!

Let me explain about our fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo.

As we have already told you, we are going to join "The Extreme Tour" this year.
It's a Christian missionary music tour in USA. We will be touring with them during August 25--September 14.
We are very much excited to be a part of it.

Since we started playing Christian rock, we have done USA tours almost every year, mostly independently. They may have been small tours, but they were certainly big things for us, as well as very important steps.

On the other hand, we have all used up our budget on those tours. Actually (and honestly), this year we have some financial backup from our home church in Japan. That's a great blessing and that's what made it possible for us to join this missionary tour in USA.

But still, we have to do this fundraising stuff, because we are still struggling with budget issue. We didn't expect much. One reason was we did this kind of fundraising last year too, on Kickstarter. Doing it again was kind of heavy. Heavy for us, and also heavy for our fans. (On the other hand we know we have new fans since last year.)

So we wanted to do something different.
We didn't make our campaign video "sentimental".
Instead, we tried to tell you about our band and music. We tried to tell you what kind of band we are, what kind of music we play, and where we want to go. Because we knew the video would be being watched even after the campaign is over. And we decided that's more important than the campaign itself - Trying to communicate.

As a result, our campaign video turned out to be 8 minutes long, where most campaigns make their videos within 3 or 4 minutes.

Also we made this video by all of 3 band members. Tak, Hassy and Jake.
Last year, we made our campaign video just by Tak (me). Because I was the only person who can speak English. We actually tried to make a video with 3 of us, but it didn't work.
But this year, we decided to do it with 3 of us. Of course Hassy and Jake can't speak English and they just remain silent in the movie. It may look weird. But we decided it's more important to be present as a band, rather than Tak only.

Maybe we are not good at "PR", or maybe we are getting too "modest" (in Japanese culture we are all taught to be "modest", not to demand much), but that's the point of this video.

You may find it interesting, if you watch and compare the campaign videos from this year and last year.

Last year on Kickstarter:

This year on IndieGoGo:

Another reason we decided to launch this fundraising campaign was "Heroes EP".
We just released our latest album "Japan Metal Jesus" recently, but actually we are already working on new recordings. Now we are recording 4 songs. Those songs would be on our next EP, called "Heroes EP".

We are planning to release it sometime next year, but we thought it would be exciting if we can share it with people before the official release, just after the recording is finished.

That's why we set the $10 perk "Heroes EP". It's a special limited edition just after the recording completion.

We are offering other "Perks" such as signed CDs and downloads, but this $10 perk "Heroes EP" is something special for us. We recommend you to join this party with $10, because we can't wait to share the new music we just recorded and we want to hear what you will think about those songs.

To make a long story short (and it was a long story, I know),
Please support us on our IndieGoGo campaign!!

Every small contribution counts!!

Thank you very much!
God bless you all!!

3 major announcements!

Hi this is Tak from Imari Tones, Japanese Christian rock band.

So many things to announce.
And we are not good at public relations, but let me try.

1. New Album "Japan Metal Jesus"
2. "Extreme Tour" USA North West
3. Fundraising on IndieGoGo

1. New Album "Japan Metal Jesus"

Our new album, titled "Japan Metal Jesus" is now available on iTunes, AmazonMP3, and BandCamp!
(Also, physical CD soon will be available on Amazon.com in CD-R format.)

Many people say there is nothing in common between Japan, Christian, and Heavy Metal. So we put those 3 words in the album title!

It includes already fan favorite songs like "Jesus Train", "Living Water", and "You Key". It's the album that defines our band and defines "Christian Rock" as well as Japanese Rock. And this is definitely our most "Catchy" album ever!

So be sure to check it out!

Our BandCamp page

2. "Extreme Tour" USA North West

We will visit USA again!
We didn't think it was possible, but now it's possible because we join "The Extreme Tour".

We met those people from "The Extreme Tour" last year. (And we played a showcase gig in Nashville TN with them, that was a great blessing!)

They are a Christian missionary tour throughout USA-Canada, and they are great people, great missionaries. They are not about money or fame but they are doing it for People, Love and God. That's why we decided to tour with them.

As a band from Japan, we are very pround and excited to be a part of this missionary tour.

We gonna join their "West Coast" dates in August and September, mostly North West part of USA. We gonna visit, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.

Most shows take place outside (on the street) and we don't know exact place or venue we play yet, but here is the list of the cities we will visit.

Aug 25-26 Whidbey Island, WA
Aug 27-29 Salem, OR
Aug 30-31 Gold Beach, OR
Sept 1-3 (X-Fest) Stevenson, WA
Sept 4-5 Yakima, WA
Sept 6-7 Moscow, ID
Sept 8-9 Coeur d'Alene, ID
Sept 10-12 Missoula ,MT
Sept 13-14 Butte, MT

We will keep you posted about the detail of the tour as soon as we know it!

3. Fundraising on IndieGoGo

Yes, touring in USA is a tough thing, especially for a Japanese band.
We sacrifice our time and money. We sacrifice our life in Japan.
And most of all, airplane tickets to fly to USA are simply expensive.

So again, this year, we do our fundraising on IndieGoGo website.
(We know we did this on Kickstarter last year. And we want to say THANK YOU for people who helped us!)

So we need your help.
Every small contribution is a big help for us.

And check out "Heroes EP" which we offer as $10 perk.
It's very special "pre-release" edition, only available there on IndieGoGo.

We are doing this fundraising project not only for tour budget but also to spread the word about our band and the tour.
So please help us spread the word!
We really appreciate if you post this on Facebook and Twitter.

That's all for today.
As you can see, we have so much to come in this summer.
We are practicing hard for The Extreme Tour, doing local gigs in Yokohama, and recording "Heroes EP". (We do bass recording tomorrow!)

We are praying for God's guidance.
We are praying for the cities we visit on the tour and people living there.
We are praying so that God's will be done all over the world.

Lastly, here is what's happening in Japan right now.
(New York Times article)

We are very small, as a person, as a band, but still we believe we can change the world, we can make a difference.

God please help us all.
In Jesus name.

Nuclear Plants, Revolution, and God’s Kingdom

(Japanese below -

Hi, this is Tak from IMARi ToNES, a Japanese Christian rock band.

We have many announcements for this summer.
A new album to sell (Yes, check it out on iTunes), a tour announcement, and a little something to ask our fans.

However, we have to follow the right order when doing things.
So, before making any announcement, we want to share this story first.
Because we feel it's a very important thing.

It’s a long story, so if you love long stories, then please keep reading.

---------------

It's really difficult to explain what has been going on in Japan after last year disaster. There is really no explanation. We thank you and really appreciate all your prayer for Japan. Just like I said in every opportunity, we believe this is a change for Japan, planned by God, and it’s a change for good. After we started playing Christian rock music (and we were REALLY serious), we prayed for a change for Japan. So that there will be more Christians in Japan, more people know about Jesus and God, and there will be spiritual salvation upon our country Japan. And yes, we believe now Japan is changing. People in Japan, society in Japan, they are changing, though we lost many people’s lives as sacred sacrifice on March 11, 2011.

Even after 1 year has passed since the earthquake and tsunami, we are still struggling, and our society is shaking. That is, because of, the nuclear power plant issue. Maybe nobody outside Japan cares about it, but we care. Because we are Japanese.

The worst thing last year was we lost so many lives in the disaster. About 20,000 people killed. But the next worst thing was, as you all know, the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, which took away their hometown forever, and may cause further, bigger disaster to whole human race in any moment.

It was on May 5th 2012, all the nuclear power plants in Japan stopped running. Since last year, there have been so many demonstrations against nuclear power plants in Japan, just like every week. It was quite surprising because in Japan people were always ignorant, indifference, and they didn’t care about things as long as they can live their life as usual. I felt people were changing, society were changing. As 1 year has passed, I begun to realize, this is not just about energy policy issue. It’s something MORE. It’s about our SPIRITUAL decision.

Some of you, your friend or family, may be working in one of those nuclear power plant facilities, and we have nothing against those people. And I don’t know if nuclear power plant itself is right or wrong. After all, we had been relying on them for many years in our life.

But as a citizen in Japan, the country in which we had 3 nuclear disasters in history (Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Fukushima), at least we can say this. We are NOT God. We are NOT perfect. And there is always something we CAN'T expect. Because the huge tsunami on March 11th 2011, that was something more than our expectations.

In Fukushima disaster we learned several things. 1: We are not perfect. Accident happens. 2: Once a nuclear power plant is broken, there is NO way to fix it. We have to take care of it for thousands of years to come (And if we fail to do that, what will happen?) 3: We use those “nuclear fuel” to run the nuke plants, but the problem is, we have NO way to “dispose” those fules after we used them. We have to take care of those used fules for a very long time.

I think, probably, we can rely on those nuclear power plants, only if we are perfect. Only if we make no mistakes. Absolutely no mistake. But we all know we make mistakes. And we can’t expect everything right. We know we are not perfect. (We need Jesus, because we are not perfect. Right?)

I don’t know what they are going to do with the broken Fukushima plant, which may collapse in any moment and cause further bigger disaster to the world. And maybe it’s already too late for the human race on this planet. But as a Japanese person, I can say this. Nuclear power plant is NOT GOOD. Or at least it’s too early for us to use it. We are simply not matured enough, and our technology is still not enough to deal with it.

And we learned one more important thing in this disaster and following society struggle. Nuclear power plant is more about MONEY, rather than about energy policy.

I don’t really want to explain here but, it looks like people build those nuclear power plants because of MONEY. And they want to keep them running, because of MONEY. And now our government wants to restart those nuclear power plants because of MONEY.

I’m not going to say we don’t need money. But as a Christian, I always think of the bible words, “You can’t serve both God and Money” (Matthew 6:24). And to me it sounds like a choice between LIFE and MONEY. It’s a spiritual decision, rather than a political decision. And I feel it’s time to make our decision. Our society’s decision that decides our direction. And we can’t be ignorant for that. Our future, whole human race, and our children’s life at stake.

One of my heroes in Japanese Christian history, is Takashi Nagai, who was a surviver of Nagasaki atomic bomb and the author of “The Bells of Nagasaki”. He was also a doctor and a researcher in nuclear technology (radiology). In his book “The Bells of Nagasaki”, he wrote about “using nuclear technology for peace, not for war”. He was dreaming about using nuclear technology for a good purpose. Now I wonder what he would say if he were alive. Would he be disappointed with our immature technology? Or would he be disappointed with our immature society? But his story tells us there is still hope. Because in his worst situation after Nagasaki atomic bomb, he still had hope for the future.

My story doesn’t end here.
I want to talk a little more about POLITICS (ah, not really), and OUR LOVE for our nation Japan.

As a rock musician in an independent band, I have been always thinking about changing society. It’s what rock music is all about, right? When we look into a history book, back in 1960’s people believed that music could change the world. I have been thinking what it really meant, and that’s actually one of the reasons I became a Christian. And off course, I have been always thinking about “Politics” (ah, not really) and “Revolution”.
Yes, Revolution. Number 1, number 9, or whatever. (The Beatles.)

When I see those struggles and turmoils in Japanese society more than 1 year, I realized this is more than just an energy policy. It’s more about politics. And it’s more about DEMOCRACY. It’s our society system.

What kind of DEMOCRACY do we have, when the government makes a decision against so many people?

What kind of JOURNALISM do we have, when there are many demonstrations every week and they don’t even mention it on TV and Newspaper?

What kind of SOCIETY are we making, when people’s voice can’t be heard and only POWER MANIACS and MONEY WORSHIPERS in higher positions?

In this struggle and turmoil, we realized that’s the society we have. That’s the government we have. I think Japan has come to a point when we have to face these society distortions.

As a rock musician and an artist, I never believed in the notion of “NATION”. We have no borders between cultures, races, tribes. It’s just our background. Thus, I never believed in our government, too.
However, when I became a Christian, I learned one important thing. We have GOD’S KINGDOM. Yes, I am a Japanese person. But we don’t really belong to a country here on earth. WE BELONG TO GOD’S KINGDOM.

As a rock musician, and a Christian person, now I know we play our music for God’s Kingdom. We play music to realize His Kingdom on this earth.

Our country, must be like God’s Kingdom. But how can we do that?
God’s kingdom, it is NOT in politics. It’s NOT in democracy itself. It’s NOT in system or law. God’s Kingdom, is IN PEOPLE.

LUKE 17:20,21 says;
20: Some of the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the kingdom of God come?” Jesus answered, “God’s kingdom is coming, but not in a way that you will be able to see with your eyes.
21: People will not say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ because God’s kingdom is within you.”
(New Century Version)

We need a revolution, I believe. But we don’t do it with weapons and guns. When we toured in USA last year, some good person told me that Americans don’t have guns only for self defense. He told me Americans own guns and weapons to fight the government when it becomes “oppressive”. Honestly I was impressed and that’s probably the first time I understood the meaning of freedom American people talk about. (Though still I don’t like guns.) However we, at least in Japan, can’t make God’s Kingdom with guns and weapons. Because it’s not in politics or systems. And most importantly, we have better weapons. That’s WORDS, ART, ACTS, and MUSIC.

In Japanese history, some great samurais said “the most important thing in politics is EDUCATION”. That’t because education makes people’s heart and mind. And that heart and mind makes God’s Kingdom!

I want a REVOLUTION. I want to make it happen. And when we say revolution, we mean “God’s Kingdom”. And God’s Kingdom is only WITHIN PEOPLE. AMONG PEOPLE. IN PEOPLE’s HEART. As a rock musician, our mission is to spread God’s Kingdom in people’s heart. Now we know it clearly. When God’s Kingdom comes among us, I believe, those problems, politics, nuclear plants, economies, wars, we can find the right solutions with God’s help. Am I too optimistic?

I want you to help this battle. Not with guns, but with heart and mind. Using your/his/her talent, job, life, to express God’s Love. That’s the only way to spread God’s Kingdom. God’s Kingdom is not “here” or “there”. It’s not “look like this” or “shape like this”. God’s Kingdom is IN YOU. And if you have God’s Love, I believe God’s Kingdom is in EVERYTHING you do! I really want you to join this battle for God’s Kingdom, wherever you are. Not only for Japan but for all of us.

Earlier this month (June 2012), our government decided to restart the Ooi nuclear power plant in Fukui prefecture Japan. Some people say we lost the battle. However, that’s not true. From my point of view, our country has certainly changed. Our mind, changed by God. We see something we have never seen before. It’s just a beginning.

Even if our government will go against our hope and restart all the nuclear plants in Japan, our battle doesn’t end there. Our battle actually, has just begun.

Can we change the world with MUSIC?
I don’t know.
Can we change the world with LOVE?
I’m not sure.
But my heart says YES. Never changing “YES”.

Because, even though we are powerless humans being, we know there is nothing impossible for God!!

....and by the way, our new album “Japan Metal Jesus” is here on iTunes store ;)

Thanks and God bless you!

New photos, June 2012

We don't like photos.
Because we are just music players and playing music and taking photos are totally different things.

But sometimes people tell us we need update our photos.
Instead of doing a painful photo shooting session in a studio, we just brought some cheap digital camera to one of our local gigs, and took some photos.

Here is the result.
They are not quality photos taken by professional photographer, but we put some effects on them with MacBook. We think we managed to capture the rocking vibe at the backstage.

Those photos are taken at a club called Rokudenashi, in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, Japan, on June 2nd 2012.

By the way, we had all our photos uploaded on a website called "Slide".
However, when I took a look at our website's photo page, all the photos and widgets were gone.
It says Slide website is no more.
Wow, now we should upload all of our photos again to Flickr or somewhere else!

So here it is.
Our photos on Flickr.

Those photos are also uploaded on our Facebook page.
Check them out, if you like!!

Thank you very much (^^)

"Kodomo Metal" CD on Amazon.com!!

This is NOT a new album!
Rather than that, this is more of a rehearsal for the new album.
Because now we are starting our own small record label !
This is our new attempt to sell our music independently.

This album "Kodomo Metal" is very old.
Actually, this album was recorded in, ahh, 1999!!
It's one of Tak's first recording works when he started writing his own music.
Yes we have a long history and we have so many "unknown" materials to sell.

The reason we decided to do this is because now we can sell our CDs on Amazon.com.
Selling actual CDs on Amazon.com is a big deal, at least for a Japanese indie band like us.
That's actually CD-R, not replicated CDs. Something called Amazon Disk On Demand.
But we checked the quality and it turned out to be very good.
So we decided to do this, as a powerful method to deliver our music to you.

Here is the Amazon.com link.
http://www.amazon.com/Kodomo-Metal-Imari-Tones/dp/B007SZEBQY/

Another important thing is "Liner Notes".
Liner Notes and artworks.
Lyrics, inner sleeve, and traycard.
As you can see, we can't put these things in digital downloads.
Also unfortunately, Amazon.com Disk On Demand only includes front cover artwork and we can't put our own inserts and traycards there.
This is digital age and maybe no one cares about those things, but we care!

So we came up with another idea.
Digital Liner Notes.

We put lyrics, artworks, and background stories all in it.
We want to give the best thing to you and we believe this is something special we can offer in this digital music age.
So please download the liner note and take a look at it!

http://www.kitchenkniferecords.com/linernotes/LinerNotes_KodomoMetal.zip

Though recorded a long time ago, this "Kodomo Metal" is a very unique and powerful album.
It's eccentric mix of metal, grunge and hiphop, and you can't find music like this anywhere else.

I made a video for one song from the album.
It's a song called "Sou".

Actually we made this video back in 2007, but this time I added some new footage.
It's still a cheap home made music video, but I hope this song interests you.

If you are interested, check the rest of the album here at our BandCamp.

And don't forget to check our little record label website!!

Living Water Japanese version

Hello! This is Tak from Imari Tones, Japanese Christian rock band.
It seems like years since I posted last update.
But it's because we have been working hard.

It's funny because it's still several month ago we have finished making our upcoming album and we are already working on new songs and planning to do more recordings soon.

Our new album will include 12 tracks.
Some of you may already have seen the artwork on our Facebook page, but here it is.

It's titled "Japan Metal Jesus".
It will be released sometime later this year.
If things go well, it will be available on physical CDs as well as digital downloads.

And today, I want to share 1 very important song with you.
The song called "Living Water".

Why is the song very important?
Because we are singing it in Japanese language.
This is a WORSHIP SONG.
Singing worship songs in Japanese means so much to us.

We recorded this song "Living Water" both in English and Japanese.
Both version will be included in the new album.
But this Japanese version is very special to us.

As usual, we set this song downloadable on SoundCloud.
So please go ahead and download, and share it with everybody.

The music video for the song is made from the movies from an outreach concert we did with our church VIC on May 19th. It was a small concert but it was a blessed time. We hope you can feel the happy vibe from the video.

An update on our touring plan:
I think now we can make it official.
We are going to join "Extreme Tour" this year.
http://www.theextremetour.com/

We made friends with them last year and they are very serious Christian music tour in USA.
At this point we can't say exact dates, but we are planning to join them, in the end of August, and the first half of September. And we are going to visit NorthWest part of USA.
Right now we are praying very hard for the tour.
Because touring is always a challenge and we need God's help.

We really appreciate if you include us in your prayer, so that everything goes well and we can join the tour with no problem.
Because we believe this is a mission God gave to us.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Some worship songs demo

Hi this is Tak from Imari Tones, a Japanese Christian rock band.

We are playing local gigs here in Yokohama while we are getting ready for the touring plan.
Today I just want to give you an update about some little demo tracks of 2 songs.

These are not Imari Tones' song. But one of my friends sent me these lyrics on facebook.
I wrote music for the lyrics and made demo tracks.
Also I wrote Japanese lyrics for 2nd verse&chorus.

These are demo tracks and quality is kind of rough, but you may find them interesting.
I wrote these songs in different music style than we usually do. These are more like in Pop style.

We are actually working on new songs.
(What!? We just finished recording new album a few month ago and already working on new songs?)
And I want to write a worship type song in Japanese language this year.
So writing these 2 songs was a good practice for me.
Thank you Noe Ortiz for sending these lyrics.

God bless you all and Happy Easter!!
(Actually we are playing a local gig on Easter Sunday in Yokohama!)

Jesus Train video, current status, and 1 year since then.

Hi, this is Tak from Imari Tones, Japanese Christian rock band.

Long time no update, but we've been working hard.
We have 2 topics here today.

1. Jesus Train music video

It's already a few month since we finished recording our new album called "Japan Metal Jesus".
We are trying to figure out what is the best way to release it.
We are still looking for a decent record label but on the other hand we are preparing for an independent release by our own small label.
It will take some more time while we are making artwork and finding a distribution but we are sure you will like the album when it is released.

At the same time, we are already releasing/uploading some songs from the new record on internet.

We told you about the music video of "The Concept" and "You Key" before (Check them out on our YouTube if you haven't yet!).

And now we uploaded another music video on YouTube.
It's a song called "Jesus Train".
We have been playing that song in our live shows for a while now and it's one of our live favorites. So some of you may be already familiar with the song.

We made the video using footage from our local gig in Yokohama, Japan.
It's a simple video but it has got a live show feeling and we love it!

So please check it out!

It's already 3rd song uploaded on YouTube from the album and we feel as if we were going to upload all the song even before the album is released!
(Actually some other songs are on our Soundcloud, too.)

2. Our current status and touring plan this year

While we are excited and can't wait to release the album and share the music with you, we are making plans how to spend this year 2012.

We are trying to "go local" this year and we are going to play small local gigs in Yokohama Japan.
We already booked several gigs in Yokohama/Tokyo area. So check our schedule on our website, if you happened to be in that area. (Though I know our internet activity is mostly for people outside Japan.)

Life in an independent rock band is tough and our life is hard, too.
But we are a band destined to reach for the international market.
So we are trying to do a tour again this year.

We are talking with people from "The Extreme Tour".
We friended with them last year when we visited USA.
They are a Christian music tour and they are great ministries.
We are trying to join their tour in USA/Canada region.

Though the detail is not confirmed yet, but we will let you know when it happens.
We are praying so that the plan will work. Because we are dying to play live in front of you. Because we are so much in love with ROCK music and Jesus is the ROCK.

Well, I guess it's time.
It's Sunday I'm writing this and I'm in charge of worship in our church today.
(I got to go now.)

Hope you are doing great and hope we can keep in touch.
We are rocking alive here in Yokohama.
So you keep on rocking too!
God is at work in Japan as much as in the rest of the world!

It's one year since March 11th 2011, when the earthquake and the tsunami disaster happened in Japan.
Our life in Japan, it has changed forever since then.

But we believe God will make everything good. Even bad things and sad things.
Today we are all praying for our home country.

Thank you very much and may God bless you richly.

In Jesus name,
Tak / Imari Tones (Japan)

Van Halen

I know it's a little bit of "off topic" writing about "Van Halen" again,
but this is very important topic for us as a band, since we are very much influenced by Van Halen. After all, talking about popular topic is not a bad thing for musician's blog. So here it is, here is our official statement for this historic Rockn'Roll album. But sorry, it's all in Japanese.

Van Halen

"This was not supposed to happen"

Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen "A Different Kind of Truth"の音楽は、

Van Halen

A Different Kind of Truth"のサウンドは完成した。

On Fireとか、
Dance The Night Awayとか、
And The Cradle Will Rock

Van Halen

Extreme

Van Halen

China TownShe's The Woman

China Town

A Different Kind of Truth"を作り上げたのだ。

Van Halen

Van Halen

It was certainly worth the wait.

Tattoo
Tora!"

"Blood and Fire"

I told you I was coming back"も泣けるんだけれど、

Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen
"For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge"、
そして
"Balance"、
"Van Halen 3"

Van Halen

David Lee Rothは。

Steve Vai、Billy Sheehan
Eat'em and Smile

Skyscraper、A Little Ain't Enough

Van Halen

"Your Filthy Little Mouth"

A Different Kind of Truth"だ。

David Lee Roth

Van Halen

Alex Van Halen
Live:Right Here, Right Nowの映像でも、AKGの大きなヘッドフォンを着けてドラミングするアレックスの姿を確認することができる。

Van Halen

Conclusion:
Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen

Van Halen

The Beatles

Van Halen
"A Different Kind of Truth"
