Video editing takes a lot of time.
It's very funny we're still working on editing movies from our tour last year.
We also want to upload some more songs to YouTube for free listen, but in the meantime, here is the song "Precious" live performance from the church concert last week.
Thanks to the church crew and Eiko-Go (our friend Christian rock band), we could do a very good live recording. Lyrics subtitled. We hope you enjoy this special song of ours.
We are preparing for intensive summer gigging, getting ready to take our music to the next level.
We are sure you will be amazed by our new music and grass root missionary activities.
Happy Palm Sunday to all the world! Whole world is praising God's victory!!!!

New songs and Hard Rock Rising contest
Hi, this is Tak, from the band Imari Tones, a Christian rock band from Japan.
It's been a while but I give you some little update about our band and our activity.
1. New songs and new release plan
2. Hard Rock Rising Contest
3. The Extreme Tour Japan 2013
1. New songs and new release plan
Last year, especially after coming back from The Extreme Tour, Tak wrote so many songs.
Yes, we are a group of very productive musicians.
We recorded so many songs and albums independently (sometimes not so independently) even if we didn't have business background.
But this time, these songs Tak has just written, we are very excited about them. Because they are totally new direction, you can call it more advanced and modern, these songs were written to play live. And these songs we believe are given to us by God to survive in future music scene when we are ready to make a big action (such as doing a world tour, yeah).
Tak narrowed them down to 17 songs and made a demo tape.
Now we are practicing those songs in our rehearsal room.
Those songs are not easy but Jake and Hassy are doing a very good job.
We can't wait to show you this totally new Imari Tones.
At the same time, we are also working on "Heroes EP" project.
As some of you may know, this Heroes EP we sent to those people who helped us on our IndieGoGo project last year (Again, thank you very much!).
We are going to add 1 more extra song and want to release it officially in summer 2013.
Also Tak is working on new "Famicom Dojo" song. (In case you don't know, the song called "R.P.G." on our "Japan Metal Jesus" album is a song we wrote for the video game website called Famicom Dojo.)
It's due to be finished sometime in March.
It means Tak will have to work hard in the studio and on his computer next few months. Yeah!
2. Hard Rock Rising Contest in Yokohama
Hard Rock Cafe is a cool place. Cool place for any rock fans, as well as for any musicians. And we are going to play Hard Rock Cafe in Yokohama. Yes we are excited.
We are now taking part in Hard Rock Rising contest, hosted by Hard Rock Cafe. Funny thing is, we don't even remember when we submitted our entry. But when we knew it, an email came saying we are now on the contest and our song is online.
We want you to help us by voting for us.
Just download our song "Overcome".
It says you can't vote if you live outside of Japan.
So I'm not sure if folks outside Japan can download the song...sorry about that.
But a good thing is we proudly say "Christian Metal" on the Hard Rock Cafe website. It's a good thing especially in Japan. Because people will wonder "What is Christian metal?" and get interested.
The poll will be closed on February 11. After that we will play at Hard Rock Cafe Yokohama with your help. We can't wait to rock out our local town!
3. The Extreme Tour Japan 2013 Plan
Since coming back from The Extreme Tour 2012 West Coast USA, Tak has been working on The Extreme Tour Japan plan. Because bringing this cool Christian missionary music tour to Japan can be a great blessing to our home country.
This is a mission God has given to us, since we met The Extreme Tour people in Nashville TN in 2011.
Tak is now contacting many people in Japan, both Christian and non-Christian people. Meeting, talking, sending emails and Facebook messages.
This will be a tough work, because this kind of music missionary tour is not common in Japan.
Tak has made Facebook page for The Extreme Tour Japan and you can download Japan Tour brochure (written in Japanese).
Earlier Tak was interviewed by a Japanese Christian newspaper called Christian Shinbun, they will write about The Extreme Tour Japan. Hope we can get some help from churches all over Japan.
Tak is also talking with Ted Bruun (the extreme tour founder) and Scott Lack (tour directer) to make things happen. 2 bands from USA (or Canada?) will come to Japan and tour with other Japanese bands. It's gonna be great.
We will book this tour, each concert event in each region.
And we need cars, vans, places to stay, and sound equipments.
I want you to pray so that these thing will be given by God.
Also I want you to pray so that we can connect with the right people to book the tour.
We need your prayer.
Because we can make things happen with our prayer.
By now we know it very well through our music journey.
So thank you very much for your prayer and support!
I believe God is going to bless us all with His unique way.
So God bless you abundantly!!
In Christ,
Tak / Imari Tones
The first Christian heavy metal from Japan
2. Hard Rock Rising
3. The Extreme Tour Japan 2013
Tak
2. Hard Rock Rising
"Overcome"

A little update and 17 songs demo
It's been a while since we posted the last time!
Some of you may know, but Tak has been dealing with his personal family issues.
He is okay, don't worry.
As he gigging with his side-project "Atsuki Ryo with Jesus Mode" (check the website here, http://www.kitchenkniferecords.com/jesusmode/), he is now making 17 songs demo for the future of IMARI TONES. We are enjoying some time off until those demo tracks are done.
Our future mission is obvious.
Of course we will play local gigs in Tokyo and Yokohama region just like we always did.
However, after that, we have to carry out "The Extreme Tour Japan" next year. That is not an easy mission but we will do it.
After that, eventually, we have to work on our USA VISA issue, so that we can play more shows in USA and have some little business success.
We need that kind of little success, in order to make our WORLD TOUR happen. Do you know what I mean?
For now, we will put more focus on selling our past albums & CDs on our catalogue through BandCamp and iTunes, because we have plenty of music we have recorded in our band history, both in Japanese and English language. We will post about it later.
Thank you very much!
God bless you all and have a happy Christmas and holiday season!

Back from The Extreme Tour and our next mission!
Praise God!
We are back in Japan, back from The Extreme Tour in USA!
As you may already know, we joined "the extreme tour" in August-September.
And we played in, Whidbey Island (Oak Harbor) WA, Florence OR, Gold Beach OR, Stevenson WA (X-Fest), Yakima WA, Coeur d'Alene ID, Moscow ID, and Great Falls MT. (We also visited Seattle WA and Spokane WA apart from the extreme tour). We played total 12 shows in these 8 towns.
It was just 3weeks with the extreme tour (and 4 weeks of staying in USA), but let me tell you this, it was a great step for us as a Japanese Christian band.
"The Extreme Tour" is a genuine, real, hardcore Christian tour. They are real people.
They visit small towns instead of big cities. They play in front of homeless people instead of celebrity or industry big shots. They are willing to go to unchurched places, instead of playing ordinary church concerts. Their first priority is obedience to God, not business success.
They are some of the craziest, most extreme people in today’s Christian music world. That’s what we thought. And we loved that.
We played, parks, skateparks, drive-in theater, juvenile detention center, high schools (we changed lyrics because we can’t sing “God” or “Jesus” in school), block party, as well as church and Christian music festival.
Because of the nature of the tour and booking situation, we could only know the exact time and place we play just before the shows. This made it almost impossible to notify our friends and fans about the show information. We are sorry about that, because some of our friends told us they wanted to see us while we were in USA. (Also, we played mostly outside parks, not traditional music venues. That made it difficult for us to notify our fans, too.)
We played some bigger shows, too. We played X-Fest in Stevenson WA. It was a Christian music festival. It took place in a beautiful camping site. We shared the bill with a legendary Christian garage/punk/hardrock band from 1990‘s called The Clergy, and a heavy rock band from Las Vegas called PAR-A-DIGM, as well as many other great Christian bands. It was a blast! (and we put a great show!)
We played Nuart Block Party in Moscow ID, we opened for After Edmund, Grammy nominated Dove Award winning Christian rock band. We were stoked. (And we put a great show, of course!)
Now we are the first Japanese band to join The Extreme Tour. This is a great step for us, as a Christian band from Japan. It’s all because of your help and prayer. Thank you very much.
We say thank you to the people in our home church in Yokohama (Victory International Church). Without your help we could never made this tour.
We say thank you very much to all the people who helped us on IndieGoGo. Because of your help, we could afford the gas money and a rent-a-car (to drive back to Seattle WA).
And we say thank you very much to all of your prayer for us.
Without your prayer, nothing can be done. Because it’s God who can make everything happen.
We also want to say thank you to all of the bands and people we toured with.
The Lacks, DaMac, Colton&Zara, The Burn-Ins, Tim (a great MC and a drummer), Jarrod (a great soundman), John (from Alaska), Preston (from the band “ER”), Steve&April (thanks for fixing my guitar), and....I hope I didn’t forget anybody.
We say thank you to all the people we met on the tour.
Including, Scott&Chrissie (coolest pastor on the planet), John (the blind metal guitarist), April (in Florence), Tim (in Gold Beach), Jim (at X-Fest, whose daughter now in Tokyo), Timothy (the big daddy, at X-Fest), Yumi and her kids (it’s a great surprise to see Japanese people there at X-Fest!), Michele&Brett (in Coeur d’Alene), Derek (in Coeur d’Alene), Jacob (travelling through Coeur d’Alene), Callisto (at high school), Roman (from the band Sons of Day), Anoriaki (a Japanese-Chinese boy in Moscow), Jay (who lived in Japan for years), Brad (in Great Falls), Matt (a great BMX rider), Samuel (in Great Falls), and all the people I can’t spell their names (sorry I’m a Japanese...) and all the other people probably I forgot to mention.
It was surely a life changing experience for us, as a person, as a band. But the next mission God gave us during this tour was...to bring this tour to Japan.
Yes, we want to do “The Extreme Tour” in Japan next year!
We want to bring these guys, these Christian bands and this extreme music event to Japan!
We know it’s not easy, because in Japan everything is different from USA.
But we feel it’s our mission given by God.
We had a great experience with The Extreme Tour. We learned so much. Now what’s next? It’s our responsibility to bring this great missionary to our own country!
It’s gonna be in October 2013, at this point.
We have 1 year to prepare.
Now we are going to contact every person possible to make this thing happen.
So we need your help!
If you are living in Japan and you can help “The Extreme Tour” in Japan, please let us know!
We need, place to play music, place to skateboard or BMX, place to stay, cars and vans, PA system and music equipments, and some little budget. The region/location, we are not sure yet. Possibly in Tohoku, possibly around Tokyo/Yokohama, possibly somewhere else.
We appreciate your continuous prayer.
I believe this will be the best thing we have done to our own country Japan.
Because I’m sure this will IMPACT our society.
So we need many people’s help!
You can contact The Extreme Tour directly via their website.
Or you can simply contact me/us via our website or facebook/twitter.
Again thank you very much for everything.
We are very blessed and we are very thankful.
We uploaded many photos from the tour,
On our facebook page (mostly band photos),
On Tak’s facebook page (all the photos)
and our Flickr (all the photos)
We will upload some of the videos...hopefully soon.
If you helped us on IndieGoGo and still don’t get our CDs and stuff, please let us know. Though I believe we already sent out all the CDs.
And Sean and Kevin at Famicom Dojo, I will contact you soon about the new Famicom Dojo song!
It’s still 10+ days since we came back from the tour, but I already wrote 15 new songs. You will be surprised at our new musical direction! (in a good way, hopefully)
So we will work on our new songs and new musical direction in a studio.
I and my wife will work on our side project called “Atsuki Ryo with Jesus Mode”.
I also started skateboarding, which I know is funny starting at my age. It’s because I was inspired by skatepark experience on the tour. Skateboarding and Christianity are kind of same situation - In USA you have churches in every corner, in Japan it’s hard to find. In USA you have nice skateparks in every town, in Japan it’s hard to find. So I think learning abut skate culture in Japan will give us a hint about Japanese Christian situation.
And of course we will play some local gigs in Yokohama/Tokyo, just like we always did! First show is booked at The Rokudenashi, Odakyu-Sagamihara, Kanagawa, on October 20th Saturday, 9PM. See you there, our Japanese friends!
Thank you very much.
Thank you Jesus.
and God bless you all:)

FRONTGOD
Suddenly I felt like telling this story of ours.
I wrote this story before in my personal internet diary or MIXI, in Japanese language (That's the language I usually write).
I wrote this story before in my personal internet diary or MIXI, in Japanese language (That's the language I usually write).
We are a "trio" band. We have a drummer (Jake), a bassist (Hassy) and I play guitar while at the same time I sing lead.
But sometimes people ask us why. Because usually this type of music requires, at least 4 people in a band. It's not usual for this Hard Rock type of bands.
Those legendary rock bands, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Living Colour, Loudness (and the list goes on), they were all 4-piece bands. And they all had a great "frontman". With those "frontmen", they can put fabulous shows.
But for us Imari Tones, we don't really have a "frontman".
It's not something we wanted from the beginning. When Tak (me) started a band, I didn't want to sing. Because I'm a guitarist and I never considered myself as a singer. I wanted to play with another singer who can sing and perform as a "frontman". But I could not find anyone who was right for the job. So I had to sing myself while playing guitar at the same time.
Sometimes I asked God "Jimmy Page had Robert Plant, Eddie Van Halen had David Lee Roth. Why didn't you give me a singer?"
But after those years, now I think I know the answer.
We don't need a frontman. Because our frontman is Jesus Christ. Anyone doesn't really deserve spotlight except for Him. Jesus is the only one who deserves the glory because He is the Son of God. That's why God didn't give me a singer.
When a trio band plays nobody stands in the center on the stage. Guitarist in the left, bassist in the right, and drummer in the back. Nothing wrong with that. We put God in the center of the stage. That's the Rockn'Roll we play.
After I knew the fact, I never get worried about not having a frontman. I started saying "Right. We don't have a frontman. But we have a FRONTGOD."

Overcome video and 3 more day on IndieGoGo
Hello!
This is Tak from IMARi ToNES, Japanese Christian rock band.
This is a simple and short letter before we go to "The Extreme Tour" later this month.
1. Heroes EP & Overcome video
2. 3 days left for our fundraising
3. The Extreme Tour dates (slightly) changed
1.
We finished recording "Heroes EP"!!
We are going to release it sometime in early 2013, but the special "just recorded" edition is available on our IndieGoGo page....now only for 3 more days! (See below for our IndieGoGo.)
It's the first record we did on our MacBookPro. (We finally changed our recording system from very-old-version Cubase to LogicPro.)
It's the first record Tak used Amplitube guitar system.
And let me say, it rocks harder than ever!
We uploaded one song on YouTube and Soundcloud.
A song called "Overcome".
We are going to play this song during the tour and our upcoming gigs.
So we want you to take a listen!
"Overcome" on YouTube
2.
Our IndieGoGo fundraising, now only 3 more days left!!
Thank you very much for everyone.
It may look like a small amount, however, actually it's a big help for us!
So let me say, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Now 1 more help and we reach $100.
Somebody please!

IndieGoGo campaign, our clumsy video and limited edition EP
Hello, this is Tak from Imari Tones, Japanese Christian rock band!
Let me explain about our fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo.
As we have already told you, we are going to join "The Extreme Tour" this year.
It's a Christian missionary music tour in USA. We will be touring with them during August 25--September 14.
We are very much excited to be a part of it.
Since we started playing Christian rock, we have done USA tours almost every year, mostly independently. They may have been small tours, but they were certainly big things for us, as well as very important steps.
On the other hand, we have all used up our budget on those tours. Actually (and honestly), this year we have some financial backup from our home church in Japan. That's a great blessing and that's what made it possible for us to join this missionary tour in USA.
But still, we have to do this fundraising stuff, because we are still struggling with budget issue. We didn't expect much. One reason was we did this kind of fundraising last year too, on Kickstarter. Doing it again was kind of heavy. Heavy for us, and also heavy for our fans. (On the other hand we know we have new fans since last year.)
So we wanted to do something different.
We didn't make our campaign video "sentimental".
Instead, we tried to tell you about our band and music. We tried to tell you what kind of band we are, what kind of music we play, and where we want to go. Because we knew the video would be being watched even after the campaign is over. And we decided that's more important than the campaign itself - Trying to communicate.
As a result, our campaign video turned out to be 8 minutes long, where most campaigns make their videos within 3 or 4 minutes.
Also we made this video by all of 3 band members. Tak, Hassy and Jake.
Last year, we made our campaign video just by Tak (me). Because I was the only person who can speak English. We actually tried to make a video with 3 of us, but it didn't work.
But this year, we decided to do it with 3 of us. Of course Hassy and Jake can't speak English and they just remain silent in the movie. It may look weird. But we decided it's more important to be present as a band, rather than Tak only.
Maybe we are not good at "PR", or maybe we are getting too "modest" (in Japanese culture we are all taught to be "modest", not to demand much), but that's the point of this video.
You may find it interesting, if you watch and compare the campaign videos from this year and last year.
Last year on Kickstarter:
This year on IndieGoGo:
Another reason we decided to launch this fundraising campaign was "Heroes EP".
We just released our latest album "Japan Metal Jesus" recently, but actually we are already working on new recordings. Now we are recording 4 songs. Those songs would be on our next EP, called "Heroes EP".
We are planning to release it sometime next year, but we thought it would be exciting if we can share it with people before the official release, just after the recording is finished.
That's why we set the $10 perk "Heroes EP". It's a special limited edition just after the recording completion.
We are offering other "Perks" such as signed CDs and downloads, but this $10 perk "Heroes EP" is something special for us. We recommend you to join this party with $10, because we can't wait to share the new music we just recorded and we want to hear what you will think about those songs.
To make a long story short (and it was a long story, I know),
Please support us on our IndieGoGo campaign!!
Every small contribution counts!!
Thank you very much!
God bless you all!!
